Who is Kristine Winkel?

So who am I? That’s such a big question… I will spare you the more philosofical explanation to that and just tell you the short story.

I work as a graphic designer at an adverticing agency in the city Naestved in the island of Zealand in Denmark.

In my work as a graphic designer I would often find myself trying to make my artwork look handmade. I would use grunge textures as backgrounds or sometimes ripped edges also in the type of fonts I used for display fonts. Sometimes I would draw lines and forms by hand with the pencil tool to make the artwork look more handmade, organic or “alive”.

At one point I was working aside my job as a guest designer for a poster company that sold  “print-at-home-posters”. When trying to come up with new ideas for posters to sell at this webshop I found myself doing exactly the same thing – trying to give the posters a handmade expression. And I was thinking why the hell I didn’t just do something by hand instead. I have always been interested in prints because of the simplicity but also the little imperfections and details that you are given by the process itself.
